The photobook Cherán K’eri focuses on the autonomous movement of an indigenous Purépecha town in southern México and its journey from a hotbed of violence, murder, extorsion and corruption to the formation of a successful grass roots government dedicated to social and environmental justice and independence from the Mexican political system and its entrenched political parties. The book consists of photos taken between 2011 and 2015 as the town rebuilt itself, according to their own terms. In addition to the photos, the book contains two extended essays. All text appears in both English and Spanish.
