The following images are portraits taken of the women who live in Casa Xochiquetzal in Mexico City. This residence is the result of a project begun by a former sex worker who wished to offer a safe haven with public funds for women who had spent their lives living as sex workers and had nowhere to retire except the streets. With public funds, the support of ex-governor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, and a collective of human rights organizations working together the house was established in 2005. These portraits were taken in 2006.
